We are seeking an experienced Smart Contract Developer with a proven background in blockchain technologies and a solid understanding of regulatory and policy frameworks governing electronic financial services (e.g., KYC/AML, MiCA, eIDAS, PSD2, etc.).
This unique role bridges technology and compliance, ensuring that smart contracts meet both functional and legal standards. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll work closely with founders, investors/stakeholders as the product lead with legal/compliance experts, and backend engineers to build secure, compliant, and scalable smart contracts for a range of decentralized finance (DeFi), RegTech, or tokenized asset platforms. Design, develop, and deploy secure and efficient smart contracts (Solidity, Vyper, etc.) primarily on Ethereum or EVM-compatible chains. Translate financial regulations into programmable logic and ensure smart contract compliance with relevant policies. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to interpret evolving e-finance regulations and integrate them into technical solutions. Conduct formal verification, unit testing, and security audits of smart contracts.
Keep up to date with changes in blockchain policy, legal frameworks, and security standards. Support cross-functional teams in a HigherED environment on protocol governance and compliance tooling for DeFi systems. Document smart contract logic, compliance approaches, and best practices.
3+ years of experience in smart contract development (Solidity or equivalent).
Strong grasp of blockchain principles, especially Ethereum-based ecosystems.
Demonstrated experience working with or interpreting regulations such as: PSD2, eIDAS, MiCA, FATF recommendations, KYC/AML, etc.
Experience building or working on decentralized financial applications or tokenized systems. Familiarity with security best practices (reentrancy, overflow/underflow, gas optimization, etc.). Background with familiarity of Government Contracting RegTech, FinTech, or compliance-driven application development. Experience with smart contract auditing tools (MythX, Slither, Hardhat, Foundry). Contributions to open-source blockchain projects. Knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies (zk-SNARKs, MPC, etc.) and their regulatory implications. Strong cross-functional communication—able to interface between legal, product, and engineering. Analytical mindset with attention to compliance nuances. Self-driven, curious, and highly collaborative.
